Intentions

Posted by Patrice Smith

We all have goals, intentions... and if you're anything like me, you have a new one everyday.
The goals I am referring to do not include things like: Do the dishes, wash the car, pick up clothes from the cleaners... no - I mean long-term goals.
Long ago, when i was a kid, I liked keeping diaries. I liked jotting down my hopes, dreams, the little things that bother me, the things I like and would like to do/see, etc. Now-a-days, as a young adult - I keep a  blog. However, while blogging is a good tool to do all the things you can with a diary while reaching the world at the same time, it is hardly a place to document your long-term goals - to set a deep-rooted aspiration and work towards accomplishing it everyday.
Following up with your goals is not always very easy. How many of us set those new year resolutions at the beginning of the year only to have forgotten about them by March? Your goals should be a constant - set it in such a way where it is deep-rooted. Post it all around you, make it a part of you - just as a reminder. You will be surprised how well it works.

A goal I have been working on is to stay calm during rough times. I am easily flustered. I am very organized and strategic and I like things to go as intended. However, this is not always the case and when things do not go according to plan I tend to "spazz" a little. Because of this I have posted a little saying all over in my home, I even write it in my palm occasionally. It's a simple saying but it works well. It's simply "Keep Calm and Carry On."

A friendly reminder:

I'm using my blog to keep track of my long-term goals - admittedly mine are more on the practical side, but I know plenty of people who are using their blog to track changes in their lives. There's no reason you can't do likewise.

Visiting to welcome you to SITS :)

People have really lost the true meaning over marriage over the years. It's sad.

Welcome to SITS. We're happy to have you.

Very good advice, to others and to yourself. I try to remember something when things aren't as I would like.....will this matter to me 10,000 years from now? Sounds corny, but think about it. Do you think that a problem that someone had 500 years ago matters today? I like to think that it keeps things in perspective for me.
