Snap out of it!

One moment you find yourself irritable and down in the dumps for no rhyme or reason; the next moment you find yourself happy and boisterous. These emotional upheavals and mood swings take you on a roller-coaster ride. Unknown

Is this you? I know this is me. Sometimes my moods confuse me. They sometimes seem to be involuntary - like breathing (Okay maybe I'm exaggerating a bit)

When you're in a rut, when your mood has taken a turn for the worse - what uplifts you? what makes you happy? what turns that frown upside down?
Recently I discovered a little mind game that helps me to "snap out of it." It's asking myself a few simple questions, and then implementing the answers. What uplifts me? What puts a smile on my face?
I enjoy moments by myself, reading a good book or listening to some soothing music. Sometimes it's going for a jog around the block, or maybe window shopping. Other times it may be remembering things from my childhood, those carefree, fun days. That always gets me smiling.

I find that implementing one of those things that make me happy changes my mood for the better. I feel light and energetic. So, when your in a down mood, go ahead! Ask yourself: what puts a smile on your face?

    I've been fortunate that through none of my own doing, my personality is fairly even keeled. I don't get too high or low....I'm sort of riding a level roller coaster. However, when I'm not feeling so upbeat, any number of things might help change my mood. Thinking about how badly other people in the world have it helps me keep my perspective that I'm doing pretty good considering. A baseball game, something that tastes good, or a comedy on TV.

    Sometimes I'm able to just sit with it for a while and other times I need to go and do what you said ..exactly...for me boredom is the worst downer..despite the fact that there is so much to do..it is when I am feeling unable to get "into" something and fall prey to the throes of boredom that is my downfall..Im learning to really combat this though..its tough sometimes ..!..I like the little quote from London

    I will go to have a walk in the flower market, when I see those lovely flower smiling at me, my mood will become much much better.

    Counting blessing helps. Talking it out with God, with a friend, with hubs helps a lot. Taking 10 min. to do something nice for myself...like a nap, a piece of chocolate, a coffee, a walk with the pup. Have a great day. Holly

My mom always watched them. I think she had to have seen State Fair with Pat Boone at least 100 times, but she loved it. hehe Have a good weekend.
