Put up or Shut Up!

Posted by Patrice Smith

...apparently, I learned this pretty late. People, I've noticed can be very different, or difficult. Personalities can be like fire and ice or like wind and water; and sometimes there is absolutely nothing you can do about it. Only after frustration, then reflection that we sometimes come to realize that we have to leave things alone, that it may not be worth it to get upset or lose sleep over things that we cannot change. Sometimes, as hard as it may be, we have to accept things as they are and learn to work with or around them. In the end this will only prove to make you a stronger and wiser individual. In the end this will undoubtedly change your attitude towards that which had bothered you in the first place. Eventually, this will change you - for the better.

We cannot change our past. We cannot change the fact that people act in a certain way. we cannot change the inevitable. The only thing we can do is play on the string we have, and that is our attitude. ~ Charles Swindoll

How true. Trying to change other people.

I see this in so many facets of life. On the job with co-workers, between spouses, parents and children, neighbors, and so on. We want everyone else to be what we think they should be, how they should be, how they think, act and speak. When it comes right down to it, most things that bother us really isn't them, but us. It's our intolerance of things not being the way we think they should be.

I've learned through trial and error that you choose your battles. Some aren't worth fighting. And if we just learn to accept people as they are, then there is no battle to fight.

If you still remember, I have this problem to face with one of my friend recently, but I've learned this lesson now, and will face it as you've point out in this article, and I am sure it will be better, too.
    Thanks.
