Billet-Doux or not?

Love is a fiend, a fire, a heaven and hell, where pleasure, pain and
sad repentance dwell (author unknown).

Really, what does love mean to us in the context of Valentines Day? What does love mean to us in the spirit of...everyday? February 14th marks the day that's referred to as Valentines day, the day of love.  It is estimated that $1.36 billion will be spent on flowers because of "February 14th." How much of that are you spending to show your love for someone? Should love be limited to a day or a moment? To me, February 14th is a day of reflection, like every other day. It's a day where love should be shown and received like any other. One should not limit themselves to showing their love on set day - February 14th. Love is limitless. Love is boundless, and it ought to be celebrated as such. While its true that as creatures of habit, we've become marred in symbolic days, but love is too precious to be bundled into one day out of three hundred and sixty five. Go ahead, spread love, so that the world can be a better place because we've unleashed the true boundless spirit of the word.

Happy Love Day, like every other day.

Valentine's Day was created by marketers for marketers to make money. And America has bought into it. And God bless most men who don't buy into it as well. My wife is the poster girl for the day, because she is all gooey romantic, and expects all the usual romantic gestures the day denotes. Call me cursed, or blessed, depending on your viewpoint.

We celebrate..more with time than material things..either way the day does'nt phase me...I feel like that about every holiday though..we celebrate any day we want, make our own traditions, and never follow any rules...that is my idea of holidays..!

Unfortunately Matty, a lot of people both men and women are caught up with the marketers dream. It appear as though you are not, despite that your wife is. It's a tough place to be in because you cannot change her; She, like all others, have to come to that realization themselves.

Robin, you're absolutely correct, being in control of your time through the creation of your own mores is the way to go. In that way you're viewed as the antithesis
to today's marketers; Nevertheless, it shows leadership on your behalf. Kudos to you!

Love Valentines day, although it doesn't take a lot of prep in our house. Just a sweet, simple love note to each kid and to hubs. Sometimes we have a date, but usually we celebrate with the kids. Holly:)
