Get up! Go out and find it!

Posted by Patrice Smith

Let's face it, nothing in life is easy. We must go after what we want. Too often we expect things to just be handed to us. We can't expect to get anything done, go anywhere by just sitting there. We have to get up, go out and go after the things we want.

Sometimes we have to fight and struggle for what we want. Sometimes, without a struggle, we would hardly appreciate the things we accomplish. When we fight for the things we want, our dreams, goals and aspirations, when we shed sweat, tears and blood only then will we be appreciative of our struggles. Only then does what we accomplish have great meaning and value to us, and only then will we feel fulfilled.
I've listened in on many pity parties and they always seem to be around one central theme, "why life is so hard." Life isn't hard. Life, my friends is simply what you make of it.  As Helen Keller puts it, life is a succession of lessons which must be lived in order to be understood. Obstacles, believe it or not, serve their purpose. Whether it is to prevent you from making a bad decision, make you stronger or wiser, or simply help you to wake up!...they are there for a reason. So next time when you are feeling sorry for yourself because something never worked out the way you anticipated, remember that life's ups and downs provide windows of opportunity to determine your values and goals. Think of using all obstacles as stepping stones to build the life you want.

When life knocks you down, try to land on your back. Because if you can look up, you can get up. Let your reason get you back up ~ Les Brown

Excellent article Patrice. So many people complain without doing anything about it. They are the ones with their hand out, waiting for things to be given to them.

Life is what you make of it, not what is given to you. There are so many acronyms for this, such as "when life hands you a lemon, make lemonade". Your life is like clay. You have the ability to mold it into any shape you want it to be. Unfortunately, a lot of people's clay is nothing more than a shapeless lump, because they did nothing to it.

And therein, lies a life lesson.

I like that Matty - the clay analogy. I agree with you, life is simply what you make of it. I try not to hold such pity parties. Of late I have been going by the motto "come what may..." and I'll deal with it as they come, roll with the punches. That is how we grow as human beings, and is, the essence of life.
    Thanks Matty - beautiful addition.

I just post my new article before reading yours. I am exactly in the "clay"as Matty said. There are too many obstacles in my life these day, but you guys wake me up again, I will fight for our right and freedom - even thought it's only a little hit. Thanks.

Patrice, you're absolutely correct. Too many people prefer to engage in pity parties and complain, rather than help themselves. What they fail to realize is the sooner they snap out of their funk and own up to their responsibilities, the closer they will be toward realizing their goals
