Does Introspection Satisfy Ambivalence?

Posted by Patrice Smith

Are you doing something that you don't necessarily like doing? A job / profession, a course of study in school? If it makes you miserable, then perhaps you may want to rethink what you're doing. Remember the previous post about finding your purpose? what you're doing may not necessarily be your calling. If you're having this experience, ask yourself these three questions:

1. Do I see myself doing this for the rest of my life?
2. Am I happy doing this?
3. Am I eager to start my day knowing that this is what I have to do?

Stop and think for a moment. If you answered no to any of these questions, you may need to re-think what brings happiness to you, what will lead to you living a fulfilled and purposeful life. What do you need to do to make it a reality?
Remember, you have only one life to live. Enjoy it and be happy! Do the things you love doing because the answer resides in YOU.

"What we really want to do is what we are meant to do. When we do what we are meant to do, money comes to us, doors are open for us, we feel useful, and the work we do feels like play to us." ~Julia Camron

Good to think about. But there is also so much in life we have to do to get to the good stuff. Hard to be clear on what we are called to do, need to do, want to do. Then sometimes we want to do things that we are no good at, and no one will pay us for. Thinking American Idol tryouts...how many of them are convinced their destiny is to sing. WRONG. But I think the exercise of thinking thru this is so worthwhile. Come on by sometime...Holly at lifelaughlatte.blogspot.com

    Patrice,

I have been pondering along these lines a lot lately since I have a job that I don't enjoy and enjoy a hobby that does not pay. Hopefully, I will end up with a happy solution for this dilemma soon.

    Really good post. Keep writing.

To all, you make interesting points. While you should do what you love doing to be happy - and money will flow, and so on...You have to also be inventive and creative with it. While there are some hobbies/jobs/careers that you just have a good time with and be successful, there are others that, while you love it, you have to put a little more effort into it. Ok, planeolebob and Meenashki!

Thanks for stopping by guys, I will certainly return the favor.
