Quiet Time

Posted by Dr. Patrice Smith

Set aside quiet time, a quiet time each day to be with and reflect on nobody else but yourself. If our mind is always busy, it doesn't get time to do basic maintenance – to sort, tidy up and take out the trash. If we don’t periodically clear out space in our minds, there’s no room for new ideas to take root.

Empty your mind, be formless, shapeless - like water. Now you put water into a cup, it becomes the cup, you put water into a bottle, it becomes the bottle, you put it in a teapot, it becomes the teapot. Now water can flow or it can crash. Be water, my friend. ~ Bruce Lee~

I agree its just like with your computer if you never clear the cache it becomes bogged down with other things which you no longer need but still occupies memory space, which in turn becomes a hinderance to tasks at hand and the overall function of the machine...Our mind is a machine and failure to take care of it affects our overall function...Meditation or as you said moments of stillness are direly needed to clear space for proper function.

    Good Post

Unfortunately not many of us set aside time to be with ourselves. We get so caught up and are bombarded with everyday events that we forget to do our much needed maintenance. Sleep is good too, but very basic.
